George W. (sic) RUSK was born Dec. 13, 1848 and departed this life May 23, 1931 at the age of 82 years five months and 10 days. Sept 29, 1870 he was united in marriage to Amanda Isabelle BURRIS. To this union 12 children were born, 8 of whom survive. William J and George O. of New Market; John T. of Browns Valley; Edgar of Lake Providence, La; Omer J. of Waveland and Clyde E. of South Bend; Mrs. Lucy RIVERS of Russellville and Mrs. Dott WOOD of Clayton. He was at an early age deprived of that greatest blessing and friend that a boy ever has in the passing of his godly mother. This left him to battle in the world through many hardships which only those deprived of a mother fully realize. With a family of four brothers and one sister by the guidance of a true father, he was brought up into true manhood. His was a life of toil and service given for His Master and family. He was a long time member of Freedom Church and community. A sheaf has been garnered to the harvest, a father in every service who with his departed wife spent every effort to make home a joy. Although not rich in material things no home was more complete in love and fellowship. Many boys and girls who enjoy the hospitalities of this home return memories of it, as a happy meeting place around our board. If all his friends could drop a blossom upon his grave he would rest beneath an avalanche of flowers. Although the sheaves are garnered and the harvest is spent, we are loathe to part with you dear father. But to say he has fought a good fight, he has finished the course, henceforth there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness. Besides the family he leaves to mourn his loss, 24 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two half sisters, Mrs. Allie Kessner of Waynetown and Mrs. Rhoda Barbra of Terre Haute, one half-brother, Ellsworth Rusk of Judson, and a host of other relatives and friends. - kbz

George E. (sic) Rusk was buried in Freedom cemtery on Monday afternoon after services at the church, conducted by Rev. HH Elmore. He died at the home of his son, Goerge O. Rusk near New Market on Saturday. He was the son of William and Lucy Rusk and was born near Freedom, Dec 13, 1848. He married Amanda Bush now dead, Sept 29, 1870. Their surviving children are: William; George; and John Rusk, living near New Market; Edward of Lake Providence, La; Omer of Waveland; Clyde of South Bend; Mrs. Stallard Rivers, Russellville and Mrs. Dottie Woods of Clayton. - kbz
